Anushka Shetty To Portray Legendary Bhanumathi Onscreen

Latest updates reveal that there has been a new addition to the legendary Savitri’s biopic Mahanati. Actress Anushka Shetty, who was seen in Baahubali 2, is all set to step into the character of Savitri for the biopic film. Apart from her, the film has an ensemble cast including Samantha, Keerthi Suresh, Dulquer Salmaan and Vijay Deverakonda .

Talking about the film, a source in the know said, “Bhanumathi was a contemporary of Savitri and is known to have been quite competitive.  Bhanumathi famously spoke about how Savitri became popular only by taking up films rejected by her. The role requires a mature performer who can carry off the veteran’s egoistic attitude, which was her famous character trait”.

Moreover, Savitri is a Padma Bhushan awardee, who had a versatile versatility and strong personality. The legendary actress had a pompous attitude, which is considered one of the reasons for Savitri’s phenomenal growth in her career.
