Bengaluru based politician-entrepreneur-filmmaker Ashok Kheny recently landed into controversy regarding the Tipu Sultan biopic. The entrepreneur is willing to make biopic on Tipu Sultan and will cast superstar Rajinikanth in it. Ramagopalan, the founder of Hindu Munnani, opposed the idea of making a film on the 18th century ruler.

But now, it looks like it has not affected the filmmaker and he has decided to go ahead with the project. According to him it was the superstar who suggested the name of Tipu Sultan. He said, "I had suggested the name of Shivaji, but since he had fought some muslim rulers, Rajinikanth suggested we do a biopic on Tipu Sultan as he had a friendly relationship with people of all religions and was responsible for defeating the British army".

Kheny made it clear that the project is on and he is completely focused on completing the script right now. He added that it would take him a year’s time to complete the script. The movie will be simultaneously shot in various languages including English.
