    Bharathiraja Takes A Jab At Today’s Filmmakers

    During his rule in K’town, it was veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja, who took the level of Tamil cinema a notch higher and moved beyond the urban sets and explored the villages. During a promotional event, the actor sang praises of director Arun Chidambaram whose marking his debut with Kanavu Variyam. Arun Chidambaram is essaying a pivotal role in the film alongside Jiya, who too will mark her debut as a heroine.

    Taking a jab at the existing filmmakers in the kollywood industry, the 75-year-old Bharathiraja said, “The current crop of directors are heavily influenced by Hollywood flicks and are good at reproducing them as mafia films. Despite having studied and lived in the US, Arun’s film is rooted in Tamil soil, culture and others should learn from him.”Arun spoke at an occasion and said, “The main aim of the film is to identify people who come up with innovative things and give importance to grass root innovation. I was honoured when Hollywood banner Warner Bros came forward to release it in India.”

    Kanavu Variyam depicts the rural condition in Tamil Nadu, highlighting the problems that arise due to of power-cuts in the state. It is also casts Ilavarasu, ‘Black’ Pandy, Gnanasambandan, Yog Japee and Sendhi Kumari. Desimartini wishes strokes of luck to the team.
