Censorship Denied For ‘Thupparivu 2020’, Themed On Swachh Bharat

Latest reports reveal that censorship has been denied to the film ‘Thupparivu 2020’, which is directed by independent filmmaker Dinesh. The documentary film is Tamil-Hindi bilingual-fusion, which is inspired by PM Modi’s Swachh Bharat campaign. The film has been shot in Varanasi showing pollution of River Ganga and the various parts of the country.

Out of disappointment, Dinesh said, “I have sung the song along with popular devotional singer Veeramanidaasan and both of us, along with several children have appeared in the visuals. The album is meant for creating awareness on the ‘clean India’ concept. But the CBFC is denying a certificate stating that it is against the government and will trigger off a controversy”.

Dinesh added that the Censor Board asked him to remove the reference of PM Modi from the album and later, they said the lyrics of the songs in the film stimulates communism. He further revealed that every time a new panel of members would sit and butcher the songs after reviewing it, which tempted him to release the uncut version on online platforms. The film has been subtitled in Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and English for viewers’ convenience.
