Dhanush’s ‘Thanga Magan’ hit the theater screens today. The film is touted to be a family drama and has Amy Jackson and Samantha as the female leads. This is the first film in theatres after the Chennai floods. The film has been granted some relief.

According to reports, the flick has been given entertainment tax exemption in Tamil Nadu by the state government. The Velraj directorial has been granted 30 percent entertainment exemption in the state. This is a huge advantage for the makers, distributors and exhibitors as well. Few shows of the film have already been screened in UK and Canada.

The Maari actor has revealed the connection between the film and his past venture ‘Velaiyilla Pattathari’. He said that there is only one connection between the two films and that is the same technical team. ‘Thanga Magan’ was being referred as ‘VIP 2’ by the people for a long time, but the actor cleared that ‘Thanga Magan’ is a different film altogether.
