Documentary On Krishnan-Panju Gets A Title

R. Krishnan and S. Panju were 2 filmmakers who directed more than 50 films in South Indian languages and in Hindi. A documentary on this writer-director-producer-editor pair was on the cards and actor Suriya and his dad Sivakumar recently launched it. Interestingly, Sivaji Ganesan was introduced in the duo’s venture.

The documentary on this duo has been titled as ‘The Pioneering Duo’. Speaking at the event, Suriya said, “I have been to several countries and visited places where cinema is being produced. After watching the body of work of Krishnan– Panchu through this documentary, I ask myself ‘what have I achieved so far?”

Many big celebrities of Kollywood attended the event. Bhagyaraj, Vikraman, Sasi, P. Vasu and M. N. Rajam are some of them. Moreover, 4 times recipients of national awards, the duo worked together in 56 movies in different languages with the likes of MGR, SSR, Bhanumathy, Sharada, MR Radha, Nagesh, Sivakumar etc. G.  Dhananjayan, who bagged the Best Critic Award at the National Film Awards, has directed the documentary.
