Famous film producer of the Bollywood industry, Ekta Kapoor has sent a legal notice to the Drishyam director Jeethu Joseph. However, filmmaker Jeethu Joseph reveals, "After Ekta's legal team sent us the letter, I watched the Japanese film, Suspect X, which is an adaptation of the Japanese novel. There could be similarities between my film and that Japanese film, but my film is neither an adaptation nor a copy. The Japanese film is also about a murder cover-up and hence the allegation.

Similarities are quite common in the works of creators and that shouldn't be made into an issue." He adds, "Ekta's team might be concerned that the Drishyam Hindi remake may affect their project. But this remake will be different from their project as my film is completely not based on that book. Anyway, I won't be directing the Hindi version as I have prior commitments in Malayalam." He further says "They had sent letters to the makers but there has been no legal proceeding as yet. This is being raked up again now as I have launched the Tamil remake with Kamal Haasan." Kamal Haasan-starrer Tamil remake of Malayalam blockbuster Drishyam, is all set go on floors next month.
