As claimed by the petitioner’s counsel B. Ramesh Babu, Gautham’s production house Photon Kathas allegedly deceived R.S. Infotainment’s R. Jayaraman of a lump sum amount of money in relation to Ek Deewana Tha, which was a remake of 2010 Tamil romantic-drama Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya. Counsel Babu said about the legal issue, "Madras High Court bench chaired by Justice C T Selvam has directed the deputy commissioner of the central crime branch to register a case on the complaint of the petitioner. The police have been asked to conduct investigation in the case and if any cognisable offence was made out, it will be brought to the notice of both the parties.”
