Haji Mastan’s Son Warns Rajinikanth Not to Depict His Father As Smuggler

There were speculations lately that superstar Rajinikanth’s next film with director Pa Ranjith will portray the life of Mumbai underworld don, late Haji Mastan Mirza. Haji Mastan was a celebrity gangster who hailed from Tamil Nadu and migrated to Mumbai at the tender age of 8. However, Sundar Shaekhar, who claims to be Mastan’s son, sent a legal letter to Rajinikanth asking him not to depict his father as a smuggler and don in the film.

Sundar has confirmed sending the letter to Deccan Chronicle and told that Haji Mastan was not a don. He was a businessman who founded Bharatiya Minorities Suraksha Mahasangh. “Depicting him as smuggler and underworld don is highly unacceptable and defamatory. He was never convicted in any court for smuggling or underworld activities,” Shaekhar said.

Although, he has sent a legal letter to the superstar, he says that Rajinikanth should discuss about Haji Mastan’s life with him. Also, it seems that Sundar is interested in producing the film. He stated, ““I am interested in making a biopic on him as am a producer and a registered life time member of Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association.”
