Ilaiyaraaja To Croon Music For A Rural Film

Master Ilaiyaraaja, who is particular about his films, has been roped in to croon the music for a rural film titled Kalathur Gramam. Helmed by Saran K Advaitha, the period film is set in the backdrop of the 80s on the TN-Andhra border and highlights the main divergence that persisted between people who thrive on karuvelam trees and the police. The film features Kishore in the lead, while Kannada actress Yagna Shetty has been paired with him.

Deccan Chronicle cited Saran saying, “Even while I was writing the script of Kalathur Gramam, which is set in the backdrop of a dry and barren land, I thought only Raaja sir would do justice to the film. When I told my producer, he immediately agreed. We then went and narrated the script to Raaja sir — he liked it and agreed to be a part of it, if we adhered to certain conditions. I then completed the movie. He composed the background score and two songs, only after he was satisfied with my filmmaking style!”

Talking about Kishore’s character in the film, director says that Kishore will be seen as Kidathirusai, sporting two different getups in two different time zones in the film. One is a young and feisty Kishore, whereas the other one is an aged one. Fans how excited are you?
