Jyothika: I did 36 Vayadhinile with ‘fire inside me’

Jyothika has lately dazzled the audience with her splendid performance in the film, 36 Vayadhinile. The flick is based on the issue of women empowerment. It was released on May 15 with a great opening at the box office. The actress expressed that she did the role on the belief that it will help reinforce the status of women in a male-dominated society.

The actress was last seen in the 2008 short film, Herova Zerova. On the successful opening of her latest release, the   actress said, “I'm overwhelmed with the love and respect towards '36 Vayadhinile'. I did the film with a fire inside me, believing that women should be respected for being homemakers as they juggle between many roles in day-to-day life, thereby losing the drive to chase their own dreams”.

She is playing a 36-year-old character who cannot achieve her desires because of her age. The actress also revealed, "I also did the film because I felt it will give heroines a better standing in this male-dominated industry and it will make women understand that our identity lies in our self-respect, confidence and achievements, and not just in marital status". The flick is produced by her actor-husband Suriya and directed by Rosshan Andrews.
