The makers of the Tamil film titled ‘Kadal Kuthiraigal’ can finally breathe a sigh of relief. After all, the movie has been cleared by the censor board. The flick attempts to show the links between the people's struggle at Idinthakarai against the Kudankulam nuclear power project and the ‘Eelam struggle’ across the seas in northern Sri Lanka.

The film is directed by Pugazhendhi Thangaraj who has also produced as well as written the dialogues for it. The movie is slated to release in the second week of February and is ready for the preview screening on Sunday, January 21 in Tirunelveli. Though this will be first screening in India, the movie had been previously screened at Toronto in Canada.

Pugazhendhi said that he decided to screen the movie in Tirunelveli as it is the biggest town which is closer to Idinthakarai. Idinthakarai was the epicenter of the anti-nuke protests in the country. ‘Kadal Kuthiraigal’ will feature television anchor Sreedhanya.
