Tamannaah Drops Out Of Kangana Ranaut Starrer Queen's Tamil Remake; Here's Who Is Replacing Her!

The Tamil remake of Vikas Bahl’s critically-acclaimed Queen is struggling to take off, with the project facing one setback after another. Originally planned with Tamannaah Bhatia in the titular role of Rani, played by Kangana Ranaut, the project was to be helmed by filmmaker Revathy. Just when things looked positive and the makers heaved a sigh of relief, Tamannaah opted to walk out of the project after she claimed it was shelved. However, the makers clarified that the project hasn’t been dropped and that they let Tamannaah go because they couldn’t afford her.

Tamannaah was apparently very excited to be part of the project. She even said, “Ever since I saw Queen, I wanted to be part of its remake though I wasn’t sure if it will be remade. What makes Queen special is that it’s one of those rare women-centric films which succeeded in reaching out to everybody, across all sections.” Meanwhile, reports have surfaced that Kajal Aggarwal, who is currently on a career high with films such as Vivegam and Vijay 61, has been signed on as Tamannaah’s replacement in the project which is slated to go on the floors very soon. Revathy will still direct the project while actor-filmmaker Suhasini Mani Ratnam will pen the dialogues.

The film will also be remade in other southern languages. On Monday, the Kannada version of the remake, titled Butterfly, and starring Parul Yadav in the lead, was launched and the makers confirmed that the principal shooting will commence from today. Actor-filmmaker Ramesh Arvind will be directing the Kannada version.
