Kamal Haasan Meets Queen Elizabeth After Two Decades

We will have to agree, Kamal Haasan always does something extraordinary! It was two decades ago when he had sent an invitation to Queen Elizabeth for the launch of his pet project Marudhunayagam in 1997. The Queen made it to the launch and also visited the sets of the film, which was later put aside. Coming to 2017, Ulaganayagan once again got a golden opportunity to shake hands with Queen Elizabeth at the UK-India Year of Culture Reception.

The 62-year-old actor reminisced about Marudhunayagam days and wrote on his social media page, “The Queen seemed in good health and remembered her visit to India fondly. The Duke of Edinburgh was in great shape and health as well. The exchange was brief as there were too many people. You might remember during Her Majesty’s visit to India, she visited my film set. Probably the only film shooting she had attended in her whole life.”

Malayalam and Tamil actor Suresh Gopi also met the Queen. He was noted and lauded by The Queen for donning a vibrant clothing for the event. An inside news revealed that when the Queen learnt that Suresh is a member of parliament, she had a little chat with him about the constituency he represented.
