The successful 2014 film Jigarthanda has again hit the headlines. The director of the musical gangster movie Karthik Subbaraj has lodged a complaint with the Directors’ Union against the producer Kathiresan. Reports are doing the rounds that Kathiresan had sold the remake rights to the Kick producer Sajid Nadiadwala who is known for remaking South Indian films in Hindi. Karthik is said to have been upset by this decision as he was not consulted.

As reported by Bollywoodlife the issue on the sale of remake rights had already been raised by Karthik Subbaraj in the Directors' Union earlier. A source close to the director had revealed that he was not made part of any discussion related to the matter, “Karthik actually owns 40 per cent of the film's remake rights but was not involved in the process of selling the rights of the film. In fact, Kathiresan did not even inform him about the decision to sell the film to Sajid”.

The flick has changed the film-making style in Kollywood. It starred Bobby Simha, Siddharth and Lakshmi Menon in the lead. The film had won several awards. It also holds the fifth position in Forbes list of 5 Indian films to see in India 2014.
