Kochadaiiyaan grosses a whopping sum of Rs. 42 crores

Rajinikanth-starrer Kochadaiiyaan managed to smash the box office with a bumper opening weekend. Kochadaiiyaan grossed Rs. 30 crore in India and Rs. 12 crore overseas. Hence, the film managed to collect Rs. 42 crore worldwide during the weekend.

The film was directed by Soundarya R. Ashwin and featured Deepika Padukone in the female lead alongside Rajinikanth. The film also starred R. Sarathkumar, Aadhi, Shobana, Rukmini Vijayakumar, Jackie Shroff and Nassar. The fans of the superstar were very happy with his performance and dialogues in the movie. However, the film's animation lacks in comparison to other films that have used the same technology. As per an official statement, "With pre-sales from satellite rights in multiple languages, audio and music rights exploitation, brand tie ups and other income, the film is well on its way to cross Rs 100 in revenue just after the opening weekend."

Kochadaiiyaan can be declared a super hit after receiving such a grand opening. The film released worldwide on May 23 in Tamil as well as other languages including Hindi, Telugu, Japanese, Bhojpuri, Bengali, Marathi, Punjabi and English.
