    Legend Panchu Arunachalam Passes Away

    Multi talented veteran Panchu Arunachalam has passed away and the loss is felt by entire Tamil industry. He was the nephew of Kavigniar Kannadasan and had an extended career profile as a lyricist, writer, director and producer. Interestingly, he was the one who gave break to another legend Ilayaraja through Annakili.

    His production house PA Arts banner released several cult movies, such as ‘Priya’, ‘Aarilirundhu Arubadhu Varai’, ‘Engeyo Ketta Kural’ ‘Guru Sishyan’ and ‘Veera’ with Rajinikanth and ‘Kalyanaraman’, ‘Jappanil Kalyanaraman’ and ‘Michael Madhana Kamarajan’ with Kamal Haasan. Panchu wrote over fifty films, in his prominent career. Including ‘Thambikku Entha Ooru’, ‘Singaravelan’ and ‘Apoorva Sagodharargal’ and the Sivaji Ganesan super hit ‘Avanthan Manithan’.

    The legend is survived by wife, two daughters and two sons, where one of his sons, Subbu Panchu is a known character actor. The last flick he wrote for was Chanakya, starring Sarath Kumar and Namitha.
