Mariyaan not to show any smoking scene by Dhanush

The posters ofMariyaan, starring Dhanush and Parvathi Menon, led to protests against its smoking scenes. The protests have reportedly compelled the makers of the film to remove those smoking scenes featuring Dhanush.

The smoking scenes inMariyaanhave been strictly criticised byFormer Central Minister Anbumani. The minister issued a statement, "They have prioritized smoking scenes in the movie. It is punishable offense to appear smoking for pictures. Dhanush should avoid doing smoking scenes for the movie".

Anbumani stated further, "At a time when Rajinikanth has issued an appeal to his fans and others to desist from smoking, it is ironical that his son-in-law features in smoking sequences in films. I appeal to the makers to delete such sequences." As an aftermath the actor has decided to delete all the condemned scenes from the movie, which is presently in its post-production stage.
