Nostalgia Surrounded Kasthuri Raja During Audio Launch of ‘Thunikaram’

Known for directing mostly village-based films, Kasthuri Raja is an acclaimed Tamil director. He is the father of actor Dhanush and director Selvaraghavan. Lately, Kasthuri Raja was present at the audio launch of ‘Thunikaram’ when he got nostalgic about his first movie.

The director revealed that he struggled a lot to release his first film. He spoke about how he literally roamed in Kollywood to find a producer for his debut film. “Looking backwards, I realise that I have lost several things in my life to become somebody in film industry. Twice, people termed me a buffoon after coming to cinema — once, when I literally roamed around tinsel town to find a producer for my debut film — and the second time when a financier commented, ‘This father-and-son (Dhanush) duo is just playing with the camera without any seriousness,’ when I was launching my son Dhanush who did not have the looks of a hero in Thulluvadho Ilamai,” Raja divulged.

“Today, we have come to this position after facing so much humiliation. I also got Rajkiran who produced and acted as the lead in my debut film. There has been no looking back since then!” Kasthuri raja added. Talking about the film, ‘Thunikaram’ is being directed by Balasudhan. The film stars newcomer Vinod Lohidasan in the titular role.
