    Parvathy: 'I don't like the term woman-oriented'

Parvathy has been roped in for Vasant’s next project which is an anthology of films. The flick is based on short stories by prominent Tamil writers. In an interview with The Times of India, the actress shared, "I'm part of one of them. They give prominence to women, but I don't like the term woman-oriented".

When asked about the reason behind it, the award winning actress said, "Because I don't think that is a genre. I would prefer to call it an anthology of films which talks about space and individuality or classify them as a romance or a thriller or a horror film. Just because the protagonist is female, films are called woman-centric these days. We should stop using these terms and start degenderizing cinema. Is there such a thing as a male-oriented film when the protagonist is a male? For years women have been watching movies with men as protagonists and empathizing and identifying with them. Why not the other way round? But the moment they hear the word female-oriented, men run away from theatres. I am someone who believes that we should do away with the need to register one's gender in each and every aspect of life. I am not being extremist here. Think of people as people first, not according to their gender".

The beautiful actress is also busy shooting for ‘Bangalore Days’. "It's my first remake and I feel I have got a chance to re-invent my character (RJ Sarah) since I am reprising the role. My responsibility is to bring out the same essence in the Tamil remake. I have a whole new look in the film. The first schedule of the film is over now", she later added.
