It is a matter of pride for Kollywood that a manimandapam has been constructed at Adayar in memory of veteran actor Sivaji Ganesan. The manimandapam was earlier announced by the then Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. Latest news reveals that it will be inaugurated on Sivaji’s 89th birthday, which falls on October 1st.

Moreover, Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi K Palaniswami was anticipated to preside over the inauguration ceremony. However, the CM has assigned other ministers to do the honour, which has not been appreciated by Sivaji’s son and actor Prabhu. A letter has been written to the Cm stating, “Appa’s memorial was the great Puratchi Thalaivi Amma’s dream project. If she was alive she would have presided over this opening ceremony and would have done justice to our legendary father Nadigar Thilagam’s athma”.

They are very disappointed with the Tamil Nadu government. And in addition to the above statement they said, “As much as we are happy about our TN government opening the memorial, we are disappointed that our CM nor the deputy CM are not presiding over this function. Through his films, he has done so much for Tamil culture and the language. It is kind of disrespecting our father”. Sivaji Ganesan was a pioneer in the film industry, who had received the prestigious Padma Shri in 1966 and Padma Bhushan in 1984. He died at the age of 72.
