Ever since Rajaji featured in Naveen’s Moodar Koodam, he has been quite in demand. Currently, the actor is gearing up for the release of director Ramu Chellappa’s Enkitta Mothathey. In the film, Natty and Rajaji will be seen playing Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan’s cut-out artists respectively. After getting postponed a number of times, the film is finally set for March 24 debut.

Shedding light on his character in the film, Rajaji says, “I play Nallaperumal, who is an ardent fan of Kamal Haasan. My job is to sketch his cut-out pictures. It is an emotional character who values his family more than anything else. Since the story is set in the 1980s, director Ramu asked us to take references from films like Kaaki Sattai. Obviously, I wouldn’t be able to imitate Kamal sir, so I tried to imbibe his mannerisms in my character.”

Enkitta Mothathey has been extensively shot in Tirunelveli within a stint of 40 days. There is one sequence in the film where Natty and Rajaji would be seen painting the cut-out of actor MGR to get documented in the rural community. However, even before the shoot started, Rajaji and Natty realised that people living in the village started worshipping the actor’s poster. “It shows the respect that people still have for MGR,” Rajaji remarked. Meanwhile, Rajaji’s will also be seen in Kolanji and a yet to be titled film produced by director Naveen.
