Whether films inspire the society or the latter inspires the former has always been a never-ending debate. Well, filmmaker Ramesh Selvan is helming a movie titled ‘Swathi Kolai Vazhakku’, which is based on the real life incidence of the shocking murder case of an IT employee Swathi. The techie was allegedly murdered by her stalker Ramkumar at Nungambakkam Railway Station last year.

Touching upon the flick, Ramesh was quoted as saying, “Usually, there is a figment of imagination while filming such real incidents. But here, I have just registered what happened in the case without adding any extra content”. The director added, “I started writing the script even before Ramkumar was nabbed by the police. I closely monitored the investigation process and also spoke to people who were associated with both Swathi and Ramkumar”.

The movie has been narrated from the perspective of a Nugambakkam inspector. Ajmal Ameer will be seen playing the highly desirable character. Debutants Aayira and Mano will play the role of Swathi and Ramkumar, respectively. The film will reveal few undisclosed facts of the case. The director is planning to “screen the movie to the families of both Swathi and Ramkumar first to get their concurrence”.

Ramkumar tried to commit suicide by cutting his own throat. He died in September last year after biting a live wire inside the Puzhal Central Prison.
