Director Ramu Chellappa, who debuted in Kollywood with this year’s action-comedy Enkitta Mothathe, has now started working on his next film. Touted to be a horror film, it is set in his hometown, Coimbatore.  His first movie focused on the lives of cut-out artists living in Tirunelveli.

Talking about the film, the director said, "The film is titled Altaap and is a horror film that stars Rajaji of Moodar Koodam fame and Sushma Raj, who played the lead in Vijay Antony's India Pakistan. Majority of the portions will be shot in a popular mall in Coimbatore where we will be temporarily erecting a scary house, where the fictional ghost stays. We will also be shooting in Chennai, Kanyakumari and Mumbai. The film has music by Natarajan Sankaran and cinematography by newcomer Shanmuga. Sathish from Coimbatore will be introduced as an art director in the film."

When asked why he decided to make a horror film, Ramu said, "I have many scripts in hand but that would take longer to complete. I didn't want to leave a huge gap between my two films. While the first half of Altaap will have some heavy-duty entertainment, the second hand half will have horror undertones. The film will also delve into an issue that almost every one of us faced recently.”
