A real life couple to play lovers in ‘Iruvar Ondranal’

Director Anbu G. has managed to rope in a real life couple to play lovers in his upcoming Tamil project ‘Iruvar Ondranal’, which is a campus love story. When he got to know that P. R. Prabh’s girlfriend Krithika Malini didn’t mind acting, he finalised the couple. “She had the looks and spoke Tamil too”, said the director. The director is also planning to use the real wedding clippings of the couple. He explained, “We thought it’d be novel to use it at the end”. The film is a dream project for the director, who is working on it for over 13 years.

However, the director admits that shooting for the film wasn’t easy. “There was a scene in which the hero looks at the heroine for the first time. I struggled to get that one right, as Prabhu had already known Krithika for a long time”, he revealed. The first choice of the director was actor Vijay but things didn’t work out and the plan was taken off at the last minute. The director elaborated, “I’ve narrated at least four stories to him, even though it is well-known that he doesn’t generally listen to more than one from a director”.

Talking of the film, he said, “Iruvar Ondranal is about love in today’s world. I noticed firsthand a girl who proposed to a guy and got turned down. But a few days later, she began dating the guy’s friend. All three now hang out together without any discomfort. I found this interesting”. Anbu G. believes that love shouldn’t ever be judged. He added, “It’s how love has evolved. Who am I to say what’s right and what’s wrong? We must simply accept how things are”.
