Romance Is Not Just About Young People For Kollywood Filmmakers

The definition of romance is not only limited to sex or young people. It goes beyond that. Romance exists between people of all ages. And if you thought that romance between old age couples can only be shown in Bollywood then you are wrong.

Now filmmakers in Kollywood are moving beyond this old concept of showing love between young people. They are exploring romance involving older couples. They are showing that cuteness do exists in old age romance. Filmmakers are now exploring that people can fall in love even when they are in the autumn of their lives. Pa Paandi which is a directorial debut of Dhanush received overwhelming response for showing romance between the leads, Rajkiran and Revathi. Let’s have a look at some of the Kollywood movies that showed romance between old couples.

Kabaali- Though Kabaali was not about old age romance but it came as breath of fresh air. The movie starring Rajnikanth and Radhika Apte gave us a peek that love is blind and does not see any age difference. The love story between the two was shown in such a way that it became a talking point among many.

O Kadhal Kanmani- Though the film focuses on young couple who opts for a live-in relationship, however it also shows easy-going romance between Ganapathy (Prakash Raj) and Bhavani (Leela Samson).

Bale Vellaya Theva-  The film is about childless couple Selfie Kaathaayee (Kovai Sarala) and Kanakku (SangiliMurugan) overcoming all the negative thoughts and showering love on each other.

Pannaiyarum Padminiyum- The film shows a lovely love story between Pannaiyar (Jayaprakash), and his wife Chellamma (Thulsi). The movie also features a most tantalising romantic song, Unakkaga Poranthene, which shows the bonding between the couple.

Appathava Aataiya Potutanga- The forthcoming movie stars late Chandrahasan in the lead playing an 82-year-old who falls in love with an elderly woman, (played by actor Vikranth's mother Sheila) who works in a facility for the elderly.
