S. A. Chandrasekhar: I’m not young but I am fresh

Director S. A. Chandrasekhar will be playing the lead role in the upcoming film Naiyapudai. The 73-year-old director is known for his films Sattapadi Kutram, Pandhayam and Touring Talkies. Chandrasekhar revealed, “I’m not young but I am fresh. That is because I work hard”.

He added, “I begin my day at five in the morning. I go for a walk, then do yoga and at 9.30, I am in my office. It has been 35 years since I entered this industry but I haven’t stopped working. I worked at a frenzied pace. Between 1982 and 1990, I made 50 films. That’s about six films a year”.

The director also revealed that the caption of AVM Studios 40 years ago stuck to him. “I can’t say I’m very intelligent, but what I can say is that I am hardworking. When I came to Chennai almost 40 years ago and stood in front of AVM Studios, I read their caption, which means ‘Hard Work Pays.’ I believed it, and still do. I worked hard and it has paid off”, he said.
