Sharad Kelkar, the Bollywood actor, is all set to play a bad man in the upcoming Kollywood film. He’s the one who will sour Sivakarthikeyan’s plans in the latter’s film with Ravi Kumar. The actor is in Chennai these days for the shoot and has always wanted to be in Tamil films.

“I did one film in Telugu with Pawan Kalyan, and thereafter I’ve fallen in love with the discipline and punctuality of the south stars. For this Tamil film, one of Ravi Kumar’s associates got in touch with me, saying that they are in Bombay and that they want to meet me. I said OK very quickly, but then… this director is very sweet. He is full-on Tamil, not very familiar with English. So the AD took over and did the narration,” recalls Sharad, who admits he’s quite unfamiliar with Tamil, but still, is determined to dub his lines himself.

Talking about Ravi, he said, “Ravi Kumar is a very simple, straightforward guy, always thinking about films and the shots when he is on the set. He is so focused; I was amazed to know he has a 5-month-old baby at home. The actor even said that he loves the works of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. “I have grown up watching cult films like Andha Kanoon and Geraftaar. Plus, I have always felt a strange attachment to Rajini, as he, too is a Maharashtrian, like me. He shows me nothing is impossible — if you have talent, you can make it big anywhere,” says Sharad.
