Short Films Opens Up A Lot Of Avenues For Aspiring Artistes: Amritha

Actress Amritha made her Kollywood debut with Tamil drama film Padaiveeran, which is being helmed by Dhana. The film released in February and featured Vijay Yesudas and Amritha in the lead roles and Bharathiraja and Akhil in supporting roles. Now the actress is all geared up for her second film which is Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi’s Kaali.

Talking about how she grabbed her first film, she said, “I was working with a corporate company, but indha industry eppadi irukkum-nu pakka aasaya irundhudhu. So, I started doing short films, like Highway Kadhali and Irai. The makers of Padaiveeran saw Irai and called me up; that’s how I landed my first film. It’s so encouraging to know that short films are being noticed by biggies in the film industry. It opens up a lot of avenues for aspiring artistes”.

Actor Vijay Antony plays the male lead in Kaali. The actress quit her comfortable corporate job to follow her passion for acting. Helmed by Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, the film is being bankrolled by Fatima Vijay Antony.
