Suriya, Karthi, Vishal Come Forward To Ease Burden On Producers

In the wake of financial burden faced by the producers, actors Suriya , Karthi and Vishal have announced that they will pay their assistants from their own remuneration. Undoubtedly, the noble gesture of actors is welcomed by the producer’s council. Notably, the decision was taken in a meeting conducted between Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) and South Indian Artistes Association (SIAA).

Nassar, the President of SIAA told ShowShaa, "Suriya was the first one to come forward to pay his assistants from his own pocket. As soon as his decision was conveyed, Karthi and Vishal have also agreed to follow suit. It will save producers to a tune of Rs 12 lakhs to 15 lakhs." According to the sources, the producers said in a meeting that Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) has to decide the payment of actors’ assistants as they are unable to pay them,  however, actors are free to pay an additional income to them.

In such crisis, the actors’ move is said to be a start of a new revolution in the Kollywood industry. Moreover, the issue is yet to be resolved as TFPC is staging a protest against the digital service providers for charging excessive rates. Also, no film shooting has taken place from March 16.
