Ram said, "I didn't even expect that such a rare recognition will come for my film. I'm extremely happy and equally privileged for this opportunity to present my work at IFFI. I would like to thank everyone who helped me make this film, including audiences who watched it and appreciated it.” Thanga Meenkal will share screen space with other acclaimed films like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, OMG: Oh My God, Ship of Theseus and Paan Singh Tomar at the fest. The Tamil drama will also be showcased at the 17th International Children's Film Festival’s Children's World section in Hyderabad.

The director added, "My film is a children's film in a way and this will be a great platform to exhibit it in. My film may not have done commercially well, but I'm happy that it's being appreciated on these platforms. I'm happy that it will be seen by as many people as possible.” The film revolves around the father-daughter relationship highlighting the necessity of primary school education. Apart from being the director of the film, Ram also played the father’s role which has been inspired by his own life and his bond with his daughter. IFFI will be held from November 20 to November 30.
