The shooting of Thiri which is directed by debutant Ashok Amirtharaj is about to complete. You must have heard several debutant directors assistant a senior director before making their debut films. However, there is something interesting about Ashok Amirtharaj. The director has never assisted anyone before donning the director’s hat. He says that he learnt the art of direction by watching Tamil films.

"I have been maintaining a record of all the Tamil films that I have watched so far. I have seen 468 Tamil films and I learnt the making of movies by just watching them. The directors of all the films that I have watched are my gurus. While analysing how Tamil films work, I understood that our audiences love emotional stories. I decided that I should also write a story based on emotions and that's how I came up with the script of Thiri," said the director.

Thiri gives a strong social message about educational system. The film which has Ashwin Kakumanu and Swathi playing the lead will talk about intense bonding between father and son. About the movie, the director says, “It is a complete family entertainer with all the commercial elements."
