This Star Daughter To Make Her Debut In Kollywood

Gayathri, daughter of popular Kollywood couple Yaar Kannan (filmmaker) and Jeeva (choreographer), is gearing up to enter in Tamil cinema. Kannan is a former assistant to Mahendran. He made his directorial debut in 1985 with a horror movie ‘Yaar’ which turned out to be a hit. Interestingly, the film was the first production of S. Thanu also.

Talking about his daughter, Kannan said, “Whenever she attends a wedding or a big event, people come up to her and ask if she is an actress. This kindled her interest to don the greasepaint. She has equipped herself in all aspects to become a heroine in Kollywood.”

He also stated that Gayathri received many film offers when she was a child. However, she rejected all the offers as she wanted to debut as a lead actress. “We are listening to scripts. I am also working on a script for her and I am planning to direct it myself,” he added.  Currently, Kannan has shifted his focus from directing to acting.
