    Trisha Defamed Over Jallikattu Issue

    Actress Trisha was attacked by the Tamil activist groups on the social media after pictures of her sporting PETA T-shirt went viral on WhatsApp. The actress on Sunday deactivated her Twitter account after it was hacked. She declared that she has reverence for Tamil culture and tradition. Also, she has confessed that she was profoundly upset at the insolence and offensive language that was being used on the social media.

    A tweet went viral due to which she was portrayed in a negative light. She said, “Considering the gravity of the issue I immediately reset my password and deactivated my account until the higher authorities get involved.” She further added, “This is to inform the general public that I have been deeply troubled and defamed for no fault of mine over the last week regarding the Jallikattu issue. I made my stance very clear on my social networking account yesterday that I have never been against or opposed Jallikattu.”

    Senior advocate Sudha Ramalingam spoke against this on the social media and said that all those people who were part of thi social media activity can be sued under Sections 354 and sections 500, 501 & 502 for this heinous act. Also, political analyst Prof Ramu Manivannan supported the actress by stating that people should not take different opinions negatively. During an interview with Deccan Chronicle, Prof Ramu said, “Though I may support jallikattu I don’t think anyone should make such comments against people who have a different opinion. This is not our culture and such things should not be encouraged.”
