    Varalaxmi Sarathkumar Roped In For Her First Female-Centric Film

    Varalaxmi Sarathkumar made her debut in 2012 with Tamil romantic musical film Podaa Podi helmed by debutant Vignesh Shivan. The actress was noticed in the first film itself and her debut film fetched her Vijay Award for Best Debut Actress and Edison Award for Best Debut Actress. In a career span of six years, the actress has done 10 films and is filming over nine films.



    The actress has been now roped in for director Manojkumar Natrajan’s next which would be her first female-centric film. Touted to be an action thriller flick, it is based on true-life incidents that took place in Kodaikanal and Chennai. The film is titled as Velvet Nagaram.



    Talking about this, filmmaker Natrajan said, “The story revolves around the heroine and a performance oriented character. Varalaxmi portrays the central character who comes to the city to investigate the atrocities meted out to adivasis belonging to Kodaikanal. The subsequent predicament she faces and how intelligently the truth is revealed forms the crux”.



    Bankrolled by Arun Karthik, the film also stars Malavika Sundar, Ramesh Thilak, Arjay, and Prakash Raghavan in supporting roles.
