    It was time for accolades, trophies and recognition at the 60thNational Film Awards and the Southern film industry could not lag behind the others. WhileVazhakku En 18/9 won the Best Tamil film award, makeup man Raja bagged the best Makeup Artist award for the same film.

    Vishwaroopamalso managed to bag two awards as art director Lalgudi Ilayaraja and choreographer Birju Maharaj got recognized for their creative talent at the prestigious awards ceremony. Poornima Ramaswamy of Bala'sParadesiwon the Best Costume Designer award. Ilayaraja, who was in Mumbaishooting for Vishnuvardhan's film, celebrated the victorious moment with the entireValaicrew.S S Rajamouli’s romantic fantasyEegaalso bagged two awards at the event for Best Special Effects and Best Regional Film in Telugu. It was also the sole Telugu film which was placed beside 18 other films, selected by the Film Federation of India as India's nomination for the Oscars for the Best Foreign Language Film.

    But the ace director Rajamouli does not seem to be at peace with the awards as he really wished that Kannada star Kicha Sudeep would be honoured for his brilliant performance in the movie. The filmmaker expressed his displeasure, "But I would have been really happy had Sudeep received the recognition for his extraordinary efforts. Eega is not the same without him."
