The celebrated director Vetrimaaran is all set to venture into another project after making hugely successful film, ‘Visaaranai’. The movie was based on a novel, named Lock Up and is written by M. Chandrakumar. Now, the director has bought the rights for another book, called ‘Shoes Of The Dead’.

Vetrimaaran is planning to adapt its story into a feature film. The movie will be produced under the home banner of Grass Root Film Company. The book is written by Neelima Kota, who is widely known for her political writing and has worked as a journalist for over 20 years. She later wrote on her Twitter account, “Thanks Vetrimaaran for choosing my book ‘Shoes Of The Dead’ for a movie. Farmer suicides have waited long for spotlight”.

The book talks about the farmer, Sudhakar Bhadra, whose successive crop failure has led to burden of debt, resulting into his subsequent suicide. It also depicts the strong district committee of Mithyala regularly rejecting the suicide and reparation to his widow. Vetrimaaran is a National Film Award winner for Aadukalam (2011), lifting Best Direction and Best Screenplay trophies for the same.
