Vijay 59 Story Inspired by Sathriyan

The latest on Vijay 59 is that the flick might be inspired by the storyline of 1990 crime-drama film Sathriyan. Though, cast and crew of film are still not ready to reveal anything about the story, but a source close to the unit recently divulged the details. Sathriyan was a super hit film, directed by K. Subash and produced by Mani Ratnam.

“Yes, the story is inspired by Sathriyan. Vijay will be seen as a cop in the film. Just like how Atlee's earlier film Raja Rani was inspired by Mouna Ragam, this is inspired by Sathriyan, which was a massive hit. However Atlee will give his own touches to the film”, said the source.

The Atlee directorial will feature J. Mahendran as the main antagonist. The source also said, “Unlike the usual villains, he will be seen as a mastermind who is constantly upping his game”. The crime film drama is expected to release on Pongal 2016.
