A court in Tanjore has summoned actor Vijay and director A.R. Murugadoss in a case related to their critically acclaimed blockbuster film ‘Kaththi’. Anbu Rajasekhar, an MCA graduate from a village in Tanjore, filed a petition in the court alleging that the basic plot of ‘Kaththi’ has been taken from his short film titled ‘Thaaga Bhoomi’ without getting his consent. The documentary was produced in 2012 and won the state-level competition back then.

He mentioned the names of the film’s lead hero Vijay, director Murugadoss, producers Karunamoorthi and Subashkaran, cinematographer George C.Williams and executive producer Neelakanda Narayanapur as defendants. According to the reports, the petitioner had also filed another petition seeking compensation. ‘Kaththi’ released in theatres on October 22 last year, after controversies surrounded its release in theatres.

The Judge, who admitted the petition for hearing, has ordered to send summons for Vijay, Murugadoss and others to appear in the court on October 15. The Thuppakki star is currently busy shooting for his next film directed by Atlee. Murugadoss on the other hand, is presently directing the Bollywood film ‘Akira’ with Sonakshi Sinha playing the lead role.
