Vijay Sethupathi Glorifies Technicians From Film Industry With Gold Medals

Director SP Jananathan started his career with film like Iyarkkai which went on to win the National Award. Later he went ahead and made movies like Peraanmai. And now recently, the filmmaker who is a founder of ULAGAYUTHA organised an event in order to honour technicians who play an important role the growth of the film industry. But with the advent of modern technologies many of the skilled technicians have been thrown away from the industry.

The filmmaker organised the event on May 1, which happens to be an International Worker's Day, in which actor Vijay Sethupathi gave 100 sovereign gold medals to 100 senior technicians. These 100 sovereign gold medals were sponsored by Vijay. Many technicians from the film industry like RK Shanmugham (script writer), who has been associated with the late matinee idol, MGR were honored on the occasion.

SP Jananathan also spoke about what film industry means to him as well as about yesteryear personalities like MGR and Sivaji Ganesan. While Vijay gave 99 gold sovereigns to selected people, the 100th one was given to none other than director Seenu Ramasamy who launched the actor with Thenmeerku Paravakaatru. The event saw the presence of several film personalities like Ameer, Cheran, MS Baskar, Perarasu, Rohini, PC Sreeram, RK Selvamani, Vikraman, Lenin (Editor), V Sekar, Arulpathi, president of the Film Distributors' Association.
