Working With Ilaiyaraaja Was One Of Vijay Sethupathi’s Proudest Moments

The upcoming flick titled ‘Merku Thodarchi Malai’ is produced by Vijay Sethupathi’s production and is the second film under his banner, the first being ‘Orange Mittai’. While working on 'Merku Thodarchi Malai', Vijay got the opportunity of working with Ilaiyaraaja. The actor was present at the audio launch of the flick where he lauded Ilaiyaraaja and said that sitting next to him was one of his proudest moments.

‘Merku Thodarchi Malai’ has been showcased in several film festivals including New York Indian International Fest and has garnered a lot of praise from the viewers. Ilaiyaraaja has given the music for the project which is what brought Vijay and the maestro together. At the audio launch, the actor stated, “By having maestro Ilaiyaraaja sir on board for my film, I am sure my name will go down in the history of Tamil cinema”.

“Today, I am sitting next to Raja sir! (addressing press personnel) I hope you have all taken pictures of me seated next to the legend, which will get published in newspapers. It is one of my proudest moments”, he added.

The film has been directed by Lenin Bharathi who made ‘Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu’ which had Vijay in a small role. The Aandavan Kattalai actor also praised the director and revealed that Lenin narrated a story to him in 2012 but he did not have the money then. Now, finally, the project has taken off.
