Allu Arjun gave up eating meat briefly for Duvvada Jagannadham

We had already reported that stylish star Allu Arjun plays a Brahmin chef in his upcoming film, Duvvada Jagannadham, in Harish Shankar’s direction. Arjun, according to reliable sources, took his role so seriously that he gave up eating meat, while shooting the portion where he plays the chef, as he wanted to get under the skin of the character and stay pure. His dedication stunned the entire unit, including his director and co-star Pooja Hegde, who plays his love interest. It’s for the first time in his career, Arjun is playing such a character and he didn’t want anything about it to stick out like a sore thumb.

“It really wasn’t necessary that he stops eating meat, but he felt he wouldn’t do justice to the character if he doesn’t completely embrace what it is like to be a real Brahmin. He also took extra care to get the Brahmin Telugu accent right,” a source told HT, adding that the makers have almost wrapped up the project except for some patchwork. In the past, Jr NTR has played a Brahmin character very convincingly in Adhurs, and it has to be seen how Arjun will portray the role and be received by general audiences.

On Monday, the film’s first single, Saranam Bhaje Bhaje, composed by Devi Sri Prasad, was released and it instantly became a chartbuster, clocking a million views in just 24 hours. The film is gearing up for late June release.
