"The film is said to be based on the life of Rani Rudrama Devi, one of the prominent female rulers in the south. And Anushka, who is known for her delivering a commendable performance in author-backed roles, was the team's first choice," a source added. Anushka’s spokesperson confirmed the news, saying, "Yes, Gunashekar's team has expressed interest in casting Anushka in this film. However, she is yet to take a call on it. She will return to Hyderabad in a couple of days, and will listen to the script. If she finds it appealing, she will go ahead with it. It's a period film and we are sure it will be interesting."
