Director Surender Reddy is fond of bloodbath and extreme violence in his films but, as the director has revealed himself, he had to take a diversion from his favourite genre in order to script his latest, Race Gurram, which is a family entertainer. Though his kitty is full with new projects he wants to take some time out to direct a movie with a host of newcomers in the days ahead.

Surender said about shifting his genre for Race Gurram, "I've always tried to do things differently. Earlier, I broke free of the action films genre and made Kick. And now, I switched the format and the content for Race Gurram, which is a family entertainer. It's a first of its kind for Bunny.” The director also shared his experiences of working with Bunny aka Allu Arjun, "Bunny is a bundle of energy and it's about how much you can extract from him. The reason the film has become a huge hit is because of his support. I can scold him; beg to differ in creative aspects and be myself with Bunny.” After Race Gurram’s commercial success Reddy is now eyeing his next with Ravi Teja, Kick 2. But he has some other plans too in his mind as he said, "We are just taking the central character in Kick and giving it a different shade. But before I commence working on the Ravi Teja-starrer, I'm planning to direct a movie with newcomers.”
