    First ever SIIMA Awards a huge success

    With an aim to provide an international platform to the South Indian film industry, the first ever South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) ceremony was held in Dubai on June 21-22. The event, which brought superstars from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada film industries, namely Kollywood, Tollywood, Mollywood and Sandalwood respectively, under one roof, was a huge success with around 80 stars attending the event. Some of the industry biggies who attended the event were Rana Daggubati, Shriya Saran, Lakshmi Rai, Andrita Ray, Charmee, Richa Gangopadhyay, Ambarish, Sumalatha, Sarath Rajkumar, Kushboo, Namitha, Madhavan, Shruti Haasan, Manchu Lakshmi, Trisha, Amala Paul, Dhanush, Aishwarya Rajnikanth, Simbu and Vikram. The major winner of the award ceremony was Tamil actor-producer Dhanushs film Aadukalam, which won four awards in the categories of best actor, best director (Vetrimaran), best music director (G.V. Prakash) and best cinematographer. Multilingual actress Asin got away with the best actresss award for her acting in film Kavalan, while RS Infotainments Ko- Eired Kumar was selected as the best film. The award ceremony, which began with the songs of Andrea Jeremiah and Chinmayi Sripada, was hosted by actress Parvathy Omanakuttan.
