Since the reports surfaced about director Vijay and Amala’s divorce, speculations were rife that it was her acting career the root cause. It was later confirmed that the couple where divorcing, where Amala’s in-laws wanted actress to quit acting and settled down as homemaker. Now, the recent statement from Bollywood sensation Katrina Kaif has added fuel to the popular debate on whether actresses had to give away their career after marriage.

“Earlier, people used to feel that once an actress was married fans couldn’t romanticise the actress. But that’s weird considering male actors could still be romanticised. However, that it’s always a personal choice of the actress to either quit or stay active”, said Tollywood director B.V. Nandini Reddy.

But, there is also the other side of the story as Actress Tamannaah felt, “If a person chooses to be in marital bliss, they can do so, but some want to work while others want to do something else. Actors are human beings too, and each one has their own different journey. And I don’t think anyone judges them for what they choose to do”. One could only conclude that it should be the choice of the actor alone to continue their acting career or not.
