She will be essaying the role that was played by Tamannaah in the original. Actor G.V. Prakash has been approached to play the male lead in the flick.

“The actress has been approached for the role and is the favourite to play the part. With her upcoming Tamil film Mayavan creating a great deal of interest, she’s become the name to watch out for. She will figure out her schedule and decide if she will be able to sign the film or not,” said a source.

The film is being helmed by Chandra Mouli, a former associate of Sukumar who directed the original. It is expected to start rolling in September. Earlier Sayyeshaa, who played the lead role in Akhil, was approached to star in the movie. However, the actress later declined as things did not work well between her and the makers.
