    Neerparavai director writes to CM for tax exemption


    Noted South filmmaker Seenuramasamy has written a letter to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalaithaa requesting tax exemption for his upcoming filmNeerparavaiafter his demand for the same was denied by the Tax Exemption Committee. The director said his appeal was rejected because the film was produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin.

    Seenuramasamy said, "My film has already been granted the 'U' certificate by the censor board, which is one of the main eligibility criteria for tax exemption. But, the members who are part of the tax exemption committee have rejected the film saying the film has scenes involving characters smoking and vulgar language despite appreciating me in person for coming up with a good film". He added, "I have only captured the hardships faced by fisherman in Tamil Nadu in the film, which also doesn't have excessive violence or obscenity."
