New allegations against Vishwaroopam, censor certificate challenged by TN government
Tamil Nadu government could not be at peace with controversialVishwaroopam, thus a new allegation had been made. The ‘UA’ certificate granted toVishwaroopamby the censor board had come under scanner of TN government as they were scared that law had been violated and if the film is released with this illegal certificate, then it would be a cause of danger for the entire society. It had also been alleged that the certification itself had been a“very big scam” and a probe is required into it by a law enforcing agency. Advocate General of the TN state government, A. Navaneethakrishnan said in the court that “film certification by censor authorities was a big scam requiring full-fledged probe by a special committee’’, according to a TOI report.
Additional Solicitor General Wilson rejected the charge and said the certification was done by procedure. The application for certification came to the Censor Board on October 4, 2012, the film was viewed on October 8 and a show cause notice was sent on October 10 to cut certain scenes, he said. The cuts were accepted and removed and the final certification was given on October 17. The Examining Officer confirmed the removal of objectionable scenes at a meeting with the Home Secretary on December 23, Wilson said.
It’s really a tough phase for Kamal Haasan as the government seems to be determined to ban the movie permanently from getting released. Further hindrances are expected to come in the way ofVishwaroopamand it will be tough to run the movie smoothly against the government’s wishes.
