Pullela Gopichand’s Biopic Faces A Setback

A biopic on the celebrated and notable badminton player, Pullela Gopichand, was on the cards. Praveen Sattaru was likely to helm the project and Sudheer Babu was to play the lead character. However, before the flick can be shelved, it has been held-up. As per the recent reports, Gopichand has denied signing the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the film.

Ideally, until Pullela, the current Chief National Coach for the Indian Badminton team, signs the NOC, his biopic cannot even start its pre-production work. Reports have suggested that former badminton player did not like the changes that were being made. A source divulged, “He didn’t like the changes that were being suggested, he asked the filmmakers to keep the Sindhu-win as just a passing mention and not more. But the filmmakers felt Sindhu could be the selling point of the film. The discussions are in a deadlock now.”

Pullela Gopichand was supposed to sign the NOC and return the documents to the makers of the film. But, it hasn’t happen. Now, it is to be seen whether the makers will alter the script as per Pullela’s demand or Pullela will agree for the existing story.
